Professional Experience
Since 1990, Pamela A. Dougherty has represented clients charged with indictable crimes and disorderly persons offenses in courts throughout New Jersey. In her practice she focuses primarily on Juvenile, Municipal Court, Expungement, Guardianship, Domestic Violence and DCP&P matters.
Ms. Dougherty served with the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office for 10 years, during which time she appeared in court daily on emergent criminal matters, tried cases and worked on each phase of trial preparation including motions, judicial conferences and plea negotiations. She served as Section Chief for the Juvenile and Domestic Violence Unit from 1995-2000.
Before opening her offices in 2004,
Ms. Dougherty also served as a Deputy Attorney General for New Jersey. While in private practice, she has been appointed as Municipal Public Defender for Morristown and Millburn Township Municipal Courts, accepted assignments from the New Jersey Office of the Public Defender to serve as defense counsel and as law guardian, and advocated as pro-bono counsel for litigants needing assistance through the Jersey Battered Women’s Legal Advocacy Project (JBWLAP). The Morris County Surrogate’s Court has appointed her to serve as Guardian ad Litem for countless alleged incapacitated persons in Guardianship proceedings initiated on their behalf.
